By the time Sunday night rolls around I am feeling pooped. Worked hard all week and biked all week and it finally caught up with me. Good thing we have the car this week. So this past week it had gotten pretty cold here in Florida, I mean we had to break out our sweaters, now that saying something, and it seemed to stay like that all week till yesterday and we are back again in our short sleeves, getting all hot and sweaty on a bike. Gotta love it.
So earlier on in the week we got to go on some trade offs with some elders in another area, their area is pretty much in the middle of no where, all dirt roads, they are one of two companionship's in our mission that drives a jeep. But it was a good day with them. Meet tons of interesting people and ended the day with a pretty awesome bone fire with this old crazy guy. Then the rest of our week was spent biking and talking with everyone we came across. We did have some downers this week. One was John and Jammie who were two of our investigators and were solid in the church, just waiting on getting the divorce papers to come through so they can get married and get baptized. We apparently John loves the Internet and got looking at some anti Mormon stuff and when elder Riley and another missionary went to go see them while I was in another area they had a pretty bad discussion about all that anti stuff and it didn't end to well from what I heard. Then a couple days latter we went back to go see them again and John said he didn't want to join the church anymore, he is still going to research more, and still believes the true priesthood is held within the church but he doesn't want to join, he still wants us to keep visiting him from time to time and still come over for Thanksgiving, so there's still a friendship there just no desire to be a member anymore. Sad day. Then also this week Savion who had a baptism coming up w had to cancel it cause he is having a problem with smoking, he just doesn't want to quit, he still loves coming to church and came this Sunday but is just having a hard time with the smoking.
Now enough about the bad things, time for the good. We got a couple new investigators this week as well. All seem pretty interested in the church and want to know more. Also yesterday for church was pretty interesting, the stake president and mission president were both there and spoke for sacrament and talk 3rd hour, really focusing on every member being a missionary. It went pretty good and the Ward is getting excited about it. This will be interesting to see how things turn out here. Now as for how elder Riley and me are getting along, it is really good, we haven't killed each other so that is a plus, you can tell he is still a new missionary along with all the others in our district, weird to think I am the oldest missionary in our district and 2nd oldest in our zone. Hmmm.
Thanks for working with the bike dad, thank you so much. And my bike
is already there, been there for a week now so hopefully he will be
working on it soon. Now as for this week it has been pretty good,
probably the best week so far for us here. Been working hard and
getting things done. This week we had our first district meeting as me
as a district leader, and it was probably the worst one I've ever been
to, have to say I have no idea what I'm doing, oh well. Then this week
I went on a trade off with the zone leaders and went to st. Augustine
for it, been a while since I've been there, brought back some good
memory's. Also this week we had a devotional that the missionaries put
on. It went really well. The works going pretty good we have found
some part member families to work with and we are picking up some new
investigators. Savion is still on for baptism on the 30. Oh one last
thing we were heading out to play some ball with some other elders
today and got pulled over for speeding and got a ticket, luckily I
wasn't the one driving.... Love y'all

Day in the life of a missionary in Palatka. One word CRAZY!!! Days and
weeks keep flying by and I can't remember what happened the day
before. So I will start with what I can remember. Early this week we
had dinner with a pretty cool family, the Trunks. The only downer to
it was they are raw vegans, and they are hard core about it. So for
dinner we had a big salad and some avacados. Then
this week we also had a zone conference up in Jacksonville which was
pretty good, it's always the same thing though, they tear you down,
then build you up, then tear you down again, and build you up one last
time and when you leave you are exhausted. Also this week I got to do
some trade offs with the elders in the other Palatka Ward, their area
is so tiny, it like a 2 mile radius, they just walk every where and
talk to everyone. Temperatures are starting to get cold over here. At
night we have to start putting on sweaters or jackets cause it's
freezing as you ride a bike with all that wind. One of the main people
that we are working with is Savion, who has a baptism date for the
30th of this month, he has a problem with smoking but last night we
had a powerful lesson with him on the Book of Mormon and I'm excited
to talk to him again and see how it's going. Other than that things
are going great, I pretty much don't have brakes anymore with my bike,
still waiting on those parts and just loving life. Elder Riley and I
are great, teaching together can sometimes be interesting, as he goes
so many different directions with things, still trying to figure it
all out. But I love it and I love you all.

Dear Elder Jeremy Earl Johnson:

Well it's been a crazy week, don't really have much time, we are
having a district p-day but I will quickly tell y'all the high lights
of the week. Palatka seems to be pretty cool and elder Riley is just
crazy to say the least. So my first day here was pretty exciting, the
very first thing I did was go give two baptismal interviews to a
couple that was getting married on Saturday and got baptized on
Sunday, it was a crazy interview the spirit was so strong during it,
they are for sure going to be strong members in the church, and right
now they are playing volleyball with us. Then that night we had a fall
festival at the church with a chilli cook off, it was pretty good and
there was a ton of people there. Things with elder Riley are pretty
interesting, we've decided that we are either going to love each other
or hate each other we shall see how it goes. On Halloween we had to be
in early since of all the trick or treaters, so we got some pizza and
some candy and deep fried all the candy, it was pretty good. Then on
Sunday church was pretty interesting, there was probably a total of 90
people at church and most of the Ward is older people, but we did have
an investigator at church, his name is Savioun and he actually has a
baptism date, just need to quite smoking. Well things are goin good.
Love y'all.
