Easter 2014

April 21st, 2014  Easter
 Hey how's it going, how was Easter? This week was crazy, we had a lot
of good times. But where to begin, let's see oh that's right my
birthday was this week, oh ya..... My family loves me so much that
they sent me a package filled with goodies. I got some gummy bears
which I have been graving for the past two months, and I got my usual
sour patch kids and Swedish fish that I fall in love with every time I
get them. Oh and I got a pair of khaki pants (which were a bit to big
for me especially around the waist and were three inches to long, so
today I got a new pair, thank you), a pretty cool tie and lots of
other stuff, oh and a big Easter basket with lots of eggs filled with
candy, all of them had a face drew on it with a name on the back, even
Loki had one filled with dog food(my goal is to get someone to eat
it!!!) but for some reason there wasn't one of me..... Oh well I still
loved it.

So now for what I did for my birthday, i made my district leader(Elder
Ales) do trade offs that day so I could hang out with him and enjoy my
birthday, he served in Fleming island(my last area) also so we got
some of the members to come out and feed us here. We had the Taylor's
come and take us out to lunch at Texas road house, which was my first
time ever going there, it was pretty good, there evens little video of
it posted on Facebook that would probably put a smile on your face,
you should check it out. Then for dinner that night we had the
wheelers from my last area come out and feed us to, man those two
families are probably my favorite families out here, so needless to
say I had I pretty awesome birthday, except I never got a chance to
make the cake you sent, I was good and didn't open my presents until
my birthday!!!  Oh and then the next day I was pooped by the end, so
the night of my birthday we stayed up until 3 in the morning just
taking and got like 3 hours of sleep and on Saturday we were doing
service for like 3 hours for one of our investigators named Mark. We
were trying to pull out a stump, which was my first doing so, we had
helped him chop down the tree a while back but left four feet of it
and cut it in half, I guess that helps for pulling it out. Well on
Saturday we spent three ours digging around it cutting the roots so we
could pull it out. I realized that my hands have gotten so soft out
here, doing the digging I got a tone of blisters on my hands, well
time to toughen them up. The. When night rolled around I was beat,
only having 3 hours of sleep, not eating anything that day until 5 at
night and even then is was just a sandwich, so when night rolled
around I was ready to head back to our apartment and sleep.

Then Easter was just as awesome, we had a pretty interesting sacrament
meeting, we had two speakers that did a really good job, one was a
sister missionary and the other was a youth speaker which both did a
really good job but took a lot of time and hardly left anytime for the
third speaker, so here is what he did, he went up to the pulpit ripped
up his talk in front of all of us and quoted a Joseph smith quote
bearing testimony of the church and sat down. It totally took the
bishopbric by surprise and was way to funny, and so sacrament meeting
ended right at the hour. Then for dinner that night we went over to
the Bradley's which apparently you already got the pics from. After
that we had another dinner with at another members house, the
Malcolm's, which are a way cool family, they crack me up every time we
go over, and last night they were just off the walls, making jokes
left and right. And I'm pretty sure they had a little to drink that
night but it was still fun, oh and I had lamb for my first time there
to, Laura always says that it really isn't that good, but she did a
really good job at cooking it and it was amazing. So that pretty much
sums up our week here, things were good and we for sure worked hard
and played hard.

I am so glad you took a picture of all the eggs Laura made you.  She felt bad that she hadn't taken a picture to show all of us here.  Thanks.  And sorry about the way to big pants, Anna-Marie really thought that they would fit you, even though I wasn't quite sure.  She said you told her that you have gained a lot of weight.  You must have fooled her good.  Life is never dull.

Hows it going mom, i miss you......

Ya Shawna(sis Bradley) is way cool, i love how she takes so many pics and send them to you, it makes my job a little easier. haha. Ya i had a pretty awesome birthday, hanging with Elder Ales and all.  And ya i wasn't able to make the cake but i'm pretty sure i will be doing it this week, it sounds so good right now.

As for my bike, it is broken right now, i'm using another elders bike until the first of the month when i have money on my pros. card to buy the parts i need. So i first started having bike problems 6 months ago and most of it had to do with my brakes, when i first went to them i thought it had something to do with my disc brake pads, thinking that they were almost gone, but they said that those last forever and did something else to the bike instead, and everytime i went to the bike shop they always said it was something else and would make me pay for it, the most recent one was this past week, when i went in thinking it must be my brake wires, they said it would cost $30 just for the labor, so i took the wires which was like $10 and did it myself, needless to say it didn't do anything, so finally i looked at the brake pads again and they are totally shot, bike shops have no idea what they are talking about and have taken way to much money from me, but hey now i know how to do most of the work on my bike by myself now. But i have to wait until next month before i can finally fix it.....

  At the end of the night all of the missionaries (I had eight that night) got up and gave their favorite scripture and bore their testimonies. 

 At the end of the night we all knelt down for a prayer then someone said bring it in so we all put our hands in. And of course had to get silly pictures afterwards.

My Birthday is This Week!!!!
Me, Me, Me. It's my birthday this week. And boy is it gonna be weird, first birthday away from home. But hey at least I've been getting my wings out here. We have a member that takes us to Buffalo Wild Wings every Tuesdays, and they are actually pretty good, but they don't even come close to comparing to moms, that glaze she does is amazing. But ya exciting week this week.

Hey family how's it going. I hear that you all have had a pretty
exciting week. Well how's my week you might ask, well it has been
pretty interesting to say the least. It seems to have been a lot
similar to last week, it went by fast and yet the work was kinda slow
again. We have been dropping a lot of our investigators who just
aren't going anywhere, and then at the same time it seems that our
investigators that are pretty solid have been moving. Turns out we are
not the only ones going through this our whole district is in the same
boat and most of the mission is also, crazy right. Well we set big
goals this week to change that and we are going to be doing lots of
finding in order to do so.

Now what has happened this past week. Well let's see we did a lot of
service for an investigator that we do service for every week and she
once again gave us a lot of food to take home, she has kinda turned
into our grandma out here, she is so amazing. Oh and we have meet quit
a few kinda crazy people this week, the stories that people tell us
sometimes about their lives we don't really need to know, but none the
less they and interesting to hear. Oh and hey I have been getting
pretty good at basketball in this area, every Wednesday we have a
bible study where there is only like 4 non members there and it
usually goes pretty good, but afterwards there is always like 40 black
guys that come to our open gym night and we will play with them, when
I first got to Florida I hated playing ball with people out here,
cause they play a different kind of play than back home. They are a
lot more aggressive. But anyways I have been getting pretty good. We
play with them on Wednesday night, and with some others on Saturday
morning, and then on p-day a bunch of missionaries get together at our
church building and we play ball. So needless to say I have been
playing a lot of basketball.

Oh and hey guess what, so you know how the Fort Lauderdale temple has
been having its open house,well for the dedication they will be
broadcasting it to our building and we will be able to get to see it.
So it will be on a Sunday and there won't be a normal church service
instead there will be the dedication, and in order to enter the church
on that day you have to have a temple recommend. Needless to say I am
so so excited and can't wait. Oh guess what else, my birthday is this
week, oh ya, can't wait. Well that about sums it up.

Glad to hear that you are having a fun time and enjoying yourself. I
have to say though that I do kinda miss having those game times with
you, I guess Anna-Marie has just replaced me, oh well. Well things
have been going really good, and I am looking forward to Mother's Day
when I get to talk to you. Hope you have a fun week.

April - Still in Orange Park

 April 7, 2014
 How's things going over there on the opposite side of the states? Bet
it's not as good as over here. This past week has been pretty good,
and gone by fast once again. We sadly didn't get very much teaching
in. Our teaching pool dropped quite a bit after our last baptism and
we also dropped a lot of people who just weren't going anywhere. So
this week we have spent a lot of time trying to find new people to
teach and sadly it has been rough, we have talked to a lot of people
but just no one is really interested. So we did have one interesting
experience this past week, the other elders had this guy call them who
wanted to meet up, turns out there was five of them and they told the
other elders to bring back up, such as kids that were about to go on a
mission, so the other elders asked up to come just in case anything
happened, I guess they said it all seemed pretty sketchy. So we went
with they and it was just a Christian group from a college who just
wanted to come and bash with us. So we ended that pretty fast with
bearing or testimony and leaving.

Other than that General Conference was pretty amazing, we watched all
the sessions at the church, it was manly just missionaries that were
there, but it was still amazing.

 April 1st, 2014

Wow, this transfer has just flown by way to fast. I feel like I have
only been here a week or so but now the transfer is over. Alright so
what has happened lets see this week we did a lot of service again,
the one lady that I told you about last week that we laid mulche for
well we went back last Tuesday and yesterday, we have done so much for
her and she is just awesome, Hellen will read the scripture passages
that we leave and then have lunch and a lesson after service, oh and
she feeds us so good and always gives us a lot to take home, aww do we
love her. Then we also did some service for a recent convert, the ward
did a big service project for her, renovating her place that she had
rented out pretty much. We had a pretty good turn out, six
missionaries and like 15 members. Not bad, so doing so I was outside
for pretty much all of it, cutting down trees and what not, and I got
soaked like no other, three hours in the rain gets to you, but it was
still fun.

No for as missionary work goes, time flys yet it feels like we didn't
get much done this week. Some of our investigators we had to drop
cause they are not progressing anymore, so now we are stuck trying to
find new people to teach, and now one will pop up here or there. Oh
and for the exciting news, WE HAD A BAPTISM on Saturday!!! It was
awesome, our wars for the past four weeks has had a baptism every
week. And Saturday was just amazing with having six kids get baptized.
They had their cousin and great grandpa baptize them, it was so cool
to see, and then the next day made it even better, on Sunday we had
the confirmations of the six kids in a row, their great grandpa did
all of them and the spirit was just so powerful in the room, now for
the funny part of it, after the confirmations the sacrament wasn't
passed until after 12:30 and it only left 15 minutes for testimonies,
but it was an amazing sacrament meeting. Oh and another interesting
thing is our district pretty much got our zones goal this month for
baptisms, God has truly blessed this area this past month.

Now to end thing, so before I do I have our thing to say. Our
apartment sucks. It smells like weed so bad cause of our next door
neighbor, and this week has just been so much worse than the rest of
the month, we told the front office about it and our senior couple and
they are gonna see what then can do, cause no amount of febrees will
work. Well other than that all has been well and I am just loving it
here.

is you, don't ever think that I don't think highly of you.

Now as for what you said in your letter about celesta, that is sad
that she is gone, but I guess it was good for here, she really was
amazing. And as for elder Neilson and Shumway going to Cammie's
mission that is so cool, that is one of my dreams out here to have an
apostle or general authority come here and talk about grandpa and know
that I am his grandson, that would be so so cool, I am happy for her,
that must have really made her feel special.

Oh and I had a question for you, how do I go about getting my
priesthood line of authority? Well that's about it just remember I
love you.

Mommy,

Guess what? I love you, yep that's right I actually do love you :).
Sound like you have really had an eventful week and yesterday must
have been fun serving grandma and all. So I heard the got the frozen
soundtrack for your birthday, have you seen the movie? Everyone's says
it is really good, best Disney movie ever made. As for me I'm just
living life like normal having fun. Hey so what's going on with
Clifton? I never hear from him. Oh hey I have a question so I have
been having a graving for gummy bears so if you haven't but my
birthday package together yet, think I could get some? Well that about
it remember mom I love you, more that all the gummy bears that Laura
has ever eaten, and man is that a lot.....

Hey this is a letter to grandma

Grandma!!!!!

Hows it going i miss you, it's been so long. Things are going amazing here. The weather is beautiful right now, not cold and not to hot yet, just right. Now when summer comes that will be another story. So as for missionary work it is going amazing. I have this companion named Elder Russell, and we have been together for like 4 or 5 weeks now and he has only been out for like 2 to 3 months, anyway we get along pretty well, and have been working hard, Hey guess what we are having a baptism this saturday, ya thats right and 6 kids are getting baptized, all between the ages of 8 to 13, their parents are members and they wanted us to start teaching them, and they remember pretty much everything we tell them, their awesome. What else has been going on, well we have been going a lot of gardening, laying down mulch for a lot of people. Getting pretty good at it if i must say so myself. Oh and hey i meet someone the other day, someone you have a crush on. I thing his name is Simon or something. I even took a picture of us together to send you. Just don't drool over it. So how is my grandma doing, hold up there with all those tv shows you watch with dad. Treating him well, if not tell me and we'll do something about it. :). Well remember Grandma i love you and never forget that.

Nerf Ammo

Family,

       Whats going on? i got no emails this week and only one last week from mom. Whats up with that. Anyway things here are going great, time is flying by so so fast this week doesn't even feel like it's been a even a day, crazy part is we had so many appointments fall through but time seemed to still go by fast. Alright so lets see what has happened, besides the majority of our appointments falling through we still had some good visits with people, so Micheal Lawson, he is still interested and when we went to go see him turns out one of his friends was there and he didn't even know she was mormon, so that was pretty cool. Then latter on in the week we did some more service laying mulch down for our investigators friend, we thought she had a small area but turns out it was huge, we were there for 3 hours and didn't even finish, we will be going back tomorrow to finish, which is alright because she will feed us again and she also is interested in the book of mormon, so we are able to talk to her about that.

Now for the best story there is one family with the six kids that we are teaching. We ended up seeing them almost every single day this week. They will be getting baptized this saturday and it is going to be amazing. We have been reviewing things with them and they are remembering things so well. On tuesday they are getting their interview and then everything will be solid. Those kids are pretty cool, we go over there and play basketball or football with them for a little bit and then sit down and have a lesson and they actually pay attention pretty good for a bunch of kids between the ages of 8 to 12. Now for one last story. So for christmas Clifton got me a nerf gun, well guess what happened, a couple days ago my comp. got a care package from his mom with two nerf guns and ammo, so we started messing around with those and the elders right next to us came and would mess around to, so today the other elders went to the store and got themselves nerf guns too, and today for pday we just had an all out nerf gun war in out apartment. It was pretty crazy, we arranged our apartment with obstacles and just went crazy with different ways of playing, needless to say i was the best ;). JK. Well that about sums things up for me over here on the east coast, hopefully my family will remember how much they love me and write me some time. Especially Laura, cause she said she would do better, what happened!!! Well just remember i love you all more than all the nerf bullets in the world(thats for you mom).
