Aug 11 - Elder D. Todd Christofferson, Elder Ketcher of the 70.
This week has been pretty good, can't really remember what all
happened but we were able to get out and see a lot of people and have
a lot of good lessons, things have been picking back up. We saw sis
ferguson and found out that she has been reading from the Book of
Mormon and enjoys it, she is committed to pray to know if it is true
know, we know that she will get baptized, it may take a while but it
will happen. Also this week we saw Kira and DJ who we have been
teaching for a little while know, Kira already has a testimony of the
Book of Mormon and is looking for a way to get work off on Sunday to
come to church, DJ is also really interested he likes to learn and
will read what ever we leave with him. Oh ya also stake conference was
this week they called a new stake president and all and guess who was
there Elder D. Todd Christofferson and elder Ketcher of the 70. We
drove down Saturday for the Saturday night saison which was really
good, we even got to sit in the very front row, they talked a lot
about working together in quorums and councils, then that big instead
of driving all the way back up to waycross we went to fernandina and
stayed with the elders there, which was cool to see the island again,
sadly we didn't make it over to the beach to see. Then the Sunday
session was just as good. Well that was about how our week went, this
next week is looking pretty good we have some appointments lined up
with members coming with us. Love you all.

Email from Pres. Craig
I think president is keeping us together because we have been working so hard and well together in this area, here is the email that he sent me this week, "Dear Elder Johnson It is wonderful to see the growth and changes that have taken place in your work in Waycross. I don't know if it's the combination of your companionship or something that has just changed within yourself, but whatever it is I'm pleased and thankful for the good that you are accomplishing. Keep it going!!
love President Craig"
He even called us up this week to say how proud he was of us, I can say that I have grown a lot and my testimony is continuing to get stronger and stronger each and everyday. I love being a missionary and serving The Lord.

Ankle Doing Better
My ankle is doing good, it doesn't really hurt anymore, hasn't since
last Monday, just sore and not really to swollen just a little, and
bruised around the ankle and up to some toes, but it all feels good. I
was planning on trying to play some basketball just to see how it goes
but if I do I just won't tell you if I do or not.... Love you mom and
here is a pic of how it looks now

Aug 5, 2014 - Blessings
Mommy, I miss you. Sounds like you all had a fun trip. Waterfalls,
camping with crazy winds, and a big wedding. The whole sparkler thing
is really cool, they've done it for some weddings out here and I like
it to. I do have to say I've picked the perfect time to go on a
mission, getting to miss out on all the work y'all have been doing at
the house, glade to say I'm not there for that. Hey if I remember
correctly I believe when I first came out here a year ago you were
reading a book about Christ and were talking about all the different
names for him, if I believe correctly you said you would send me a
list of all those names...... Still waiting :) oh I just remembered,
so yesterday we went to visit a lady from the ward that has been in a
nursing home recovering from surgery and while we were there she
shared with us an experience she had during it. So the first night she
was at the nursing home after her surgery, she was in so much pain she
didn't think she could make it, she told us of some things she saw
that night, such as her mom who is dead was with her all night and
seeing the room fill with lots of her ancestors and also hearing
Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ talk to her, giving her the option to
stay or go, it was a beautiful experience that she shared with us was
just amazing and the spirit was so strong there, maybe I will share
more of it with you some time, I recorded it all I. My journal. Then
afterwards she had us give her a blessing, and I got to give that.
I've never given a blessing nor been apart of one that was filled with
the spirit so strong as this one was. It was truly an amazing
experience. When I first came out I was timid even scared to give
blessing, not knowing what to say, but now I love it so much, whether
I'm the one speaking or not, just standing in the circle I love
feeling the spirit that is poured upon the person.
I love you mom, more that all the blessing that Heavenly Father has
ever bestowed upon man. WOW

Aug 5, 2014 - Ankle Injury
Georgia heat is gonna kill me one of these days, it is now normal to
me to be hot and sweaty all the time, and I've been drinking tons of
water and just sweating it off, I think it's all this sweating that is
making me loose so much weight here, since I've been in waycross I've
lost almost 20 pounds I'm about to break 200 again. This time going
down.
Now for story time, so last Monday(a week from yesterday) while we
were playing basketball with the other elders and some kids that come
I ended up coming down on my ankle wrong and spraining it, it was a
pretty good sprain, heard a loud pop and all. Well I was good and
stopped playing but that night we had some service to do and you know
me I got out there and toughed it out, trying to be a man or something
who knows. Well that night I hurt like no other, I iced that night and
the next morning and after that we got out on bikes and got to work,
surprisingly it did hurt after that, I could feel it but no pain.
Monday it was the size of a baseball and then Tuesday night my entire
door was just massive, I'll send some pics. Elder Redd decided to get
some pay back at me this week and decided to go for a run and make me
bike next to him since I did that to him the week before cause he
didn't was to run. We had been so good running every day but for the
past months not so much, we'll do it like a third of the time, but
this week he loved running everyday while I biked, turn out he just
doesn't like running with me, I think it's cause I go to fast for him
and end up being way ahead. Oh and also we have had dinner every week
this past week cause everyone thought elder redd was leaving since
transfers are tomorrow and he has been is this area for 71/2 months,
found out last night that we are both staying together another
transfer, how about that. Anyway so one family the Smiths they are way
cool, but when they feed us dinner this week you wouldn't guess what
we had, we had chicken pillows!!!! I was so excited I didn't think
anyone out here knew anything about them, now they weren't as good as
moms but still really good.
Now for a pretty interesting experience that we had, on Friday we were
biking and stopped and were talking to this guy, he ended up asking if
we could go down to the store and get him a little bit to eat, I hated
to say no but we just didn't have any money at the time. Then as we
were leaving a lady pulls over in her car and calls us over, she said
that as she was driving by she felt prompted that she needed to pull
over and give us some money to get something to eat, so she turned
around and came back, tried to give us a 20 dollar bill but we
politely declined like 3 or 4 times but she kept insisting, then it
dawned on us about the guy needing food, we told her about it and she
told us to give the money to him, when he found out he was so
grateful, knowing that it was God that did this for him, even said
that he was going to come to church on Sunday, but didn't, go figure.
Then on Saturday we had a pretty fun day, we got to one of our
investigators houses Sis. Ferguson and it started raining while we
were there, we had a really nice lesson with her at her doorstep which
was covered by a garage covering so we didn't get wet. Then during it,
it started to thunder and lightening like crazy, loud really loud, and
lightening only a few miles away, then we were headed on for dinner
after the lesson. We got completely soaked, but that wasn't the end of
it. Latter that night while we were at another investigators homes it
started to pour just like before, after we finished the lesson we
stayed at there home for another hour and the storm didn't stop, so
finally it was time to get heading home and we did so getting soaked
in the rain, but I loved it, having lightening like up the town when
it came, I was having lots of fun while elder redd was scared out of
his mind, thinking he was going to get struck.
Now the weeks still not over. On Sunday we went to a baptist church
cause an investigator said he would come to ours if we went to his.
Now that was a crazy experience, it was pretty much like a concert the
whole time, you couldn't even hear the person next to you trying to
talk to you. But the worst part of it was that there was a completely
different feeling there, didn't feel good at all. You could tell that
the spirit wasn't there at all and they're there singing and calling
the spirit to come down, after that I honestly never want to go to
another church like that ever again, it just gave me a sick feeling,
elder redd didn't feel anything wrong but I sure did. Well that about
raps up our week here in waycross. This coming weekend is stake
conference and elder D. Todd Christofersen is going to be here. Going
to be pretty exciting, getting a new stake presidency and all. Can't
wait.
Love y'all
