Aug 25, 2014 - God is Pleased with the Work
It's been a pretty interesting week here in waycross, went by really
fast. Early on in the week we had a zone conference, it was pretty
good, but probably my favorite part of it was at the end when
president Craig shared with us something elder christopherson said
when he was here. They were out with him all Sunday and christopherson
asked him something, I forgetting what but here is what happened to
sum it all up christopherson looked at his scriptures and whispered "I
now know why I am here". He then went on to tell president something
to tell us all, and it was pretty much that God is proud of us and is
here with us and that our offerings to him are accepted. Wish I could
share the whole thing with y'all but don't remember all of it, just
that it was really good. Then the rest of the week went well we were
able to go out and work hard, our ward mission leader came out with us
to see a potential investigator who turned out are related to some
members and were once really anti Mormon but when we went to see them
their hearts were softened and we were able to build a really good
relationship with them, and they even asked for a Book of Mormon, we
will being going back to see them again this week. Then yesterday was
pretty good, we had one of our investigators come to church, DJ, he
brought his daughter who is 3, and twin boys that are 1. The members
were really good with fellowshipping him and making him feel welcomed,
his girlfriend wasn't able to make it cause she works but she wants to
be baptized. Then last night we visited another church that someone
told us to come to and they would come visit us, so us and the other
elders went, it was a holiness church, you know the holly rollers, the
ones that speak in tongues and go crazy and all. Ya a little bummed
that I didn't get to see anyone speak in tongues but we did see a lot
of people go crazy jumping up and down running around screaming their
heads off and waving money in the air for their tithes. We were doing
all that we could not to bust up laughing and you know me I had a hard
time keeping it held in. But I can safely say that I will never go
back their again. Oh and we are having a volleyball night here every
Tuesday night and it's going pretty good, getting ready to come home
and beat all y'all in pool volleyball. Well that's about it.
Love ya

Aug 18, 2014 - Volleyball Nights - How to Grill!!!!
Pretty good week this week, we've had some good things happen. Started
off kinda slow but picked up. We started a volleyball night at the
church this past Tuesday, didn't have any non members show up but had
a nice little group of members there, it took us 40 minutes just to
set up the net, couldn't figure it out so finally we just jimmy-rigged
it to the wall, found out latter that, that as what we were suppose to
do in the first place, this week it should be bigger we have a big
group that'll be coming. Apparently when they use to play in the past
there would be like 30 people there, we're hoping for that. Oh and
this week we've been able to get a lot of members to come out with us,
usually we are striving to just get at least 1 member present lesson a
week and that doesn't even happen most the time, but this past
Wednesday we had 3 in one day all with different members. Two of them
were really good, we got an older couple the McCary's to come see a
lady named sis ferguson who is a really sweet old lady, she reads
everything we leave with her and even prayers to know if it's true,
but hasn't received an answer yet and won't come to church cause she
goes to hers every Sunday, but sis McCary built a really good
relationship with her so that's good. Then that night we meet with a
part member family that we have been trying to see since I've been
here, they've just been real busy but finally set an appointment to
see them and had a really good visit. Blake and Jordan are there
names, Blake is the none member, so when we showed up they had dinner
all ready for us which was a nice surprise, we were able to build a
really good relationship with them and had a nice lesson afterwards,
Blake wants to be taught all the lessons too, even said he would be
baptized once he knows it's true just won't set a date yet which is
fine. We also have another part member family that we saw that is
pretty much the same story, Tayzlee and Winston. They just got married
two weeks ago, and Winston is interested in hearing the lessons, meet
with them and had their home teacher come with us, once again a
powerful lesson and Winston said he would get baptized as well just
once he finds out it is true, won't set a date yet. Winston even came
to church yesterday which was exciting. Ohh then this past Friday was
a long day, we weren't able to do very much. Elder Redd got a flat
tire like 4 miles away from home, so we walked to Wendy's and waited
for the other elders to come pick us up, ended up spending for ever to
fix his bike. I'm pretty sure I'm cursed when it comes to bikes out
here. I've never gone longer than a month without me or my companion
getting a flat tire or something going wrong with it, usually it's me
but it always feels good when it happens to someone else. Then
Saturday was a long day filled with service. We started off in the
morning cutting a lady's yard which took 3 hours, it was a pretty big
yard and the grass was pretty tall, but we did get pizza while there.
Then we got a call from a member to come and do some yard work, so we
said yes and spent the rest of the afternoon doing small jobs here and
there throughout the yard, and once again we got feed. One thing I've
learned out here is how to eat good. There's two things that are going
to happen when I get home, one is I'm going to teach y'all how to
actually use a grill, there not just for burgers and dogs, but for
almost everything, and I'll teach ya how to make some good BBQ. Then
I'm going to head back here and find me a nice cute southern girl that
can cook and take her back west with me. We'll see how that'll turn
out. Well that's about it, not to much excitement here in waycross
except seeing elder redd get chased by dogs everyday, if funny they
really don't like him and he's scared of them both big and small.
Love ya all
