Jul 28, 2014 - "Pinewood Derby Judges"
It's seems that this week has been crazy for both y'all and me. Sounds
like the wedding was a lot of fun and also if I recall right there was
a birthday or two recently, happy late birthday. I expect to see some
pics from the wedding some time soon. Now as for how our week went
here it was pretty good, we were able to see a lot of people this week
and get a lot of biking it. It's starting to get really hot here.
Everyone is telling us that these next two weeks are suppose to be
really really hot. Temperatures around 110, with the heat index at
125. Ya I'm going to die.
Let's see interesting stories for the week, early it the week we meet
with a lady named Martha that we found a couple weeks ago, the last
time we saw her she was just going on and on about how we worship
Joseph smith way to much and that lesson ended pretty bad, then when
we saw her this time she was friendly like always and then we tried to
read from the Book of Mormon with her and that didn't go very well,
she couldn't see the need for another book and so elder redd shared
with her the last two paragraphs in the introduction where it invitees
you to read and pray and as soon as it mentioned Joseph smith she went
off again, and her and redd argued about things for a while(he likes
to bible bash) but then we were able to end it all with the bearing of
our testimonies and she even bore her testimony and that experience
was so powerful and the spirit was so strong there, you could tell
that she could feel it. It was a good note to end on and a good
impression to leave for when she comes across missionaries again. Then
another neat experience was this past Saturday, a recent convert in
the ward wanted to come out with us for a couple hours so we did so
and had two amazing lessons, one with a lady that we meet the day
before who thought to talk just with her cause we came at the perfect
time with the message that she was in need of right at that time of
how families can be together for ever, anyway Arsenio the guy we took
with us ended up know her and her daughter and they hit it off, they
both planned on coming to church yesterday and we set up a ride for
them and everything but the didn't show......
Then also this week the ward had a pinewood derby that we were invited
to mainly for the free food, but they also had us be the judges. It
was pretty fun there were a lot of cars and most them looked pretty
cool, one even had a fan on it attached to a battery, qualified for
the weight so it was good to go, it destroyed all the other cars until
the championship when it lost cause the battery was getting worn. But
it was still fun to watch. Things are going great here and I'm loving
it.

Jul 21, 2014 -"Army Ant Battle"
Time just seems to fly by when you are busy doing The Lord work. So
let's see what happened, back on Monday night we came into our
apartment and realized that we were being attacked, by an army of
ants, they invaded our bedroom and study room and were going crazy, we
didn't have any spray so we had to get get some and killed them all, I
never knew you could have so much fun with that. Then latter that
night elder redd let me cut his hair, ever since I've been here he has
always been all talk how he will never let a white guy cut his hair
and there I was cutting it, the second time I ever have, the first
time straight up destroyed the elders hair but I did a pretty good job
this time.
Then this week we had a pretty good time when it came to missionary
work, we found some new investigators and meet with some of our
progressing ones. One was Bro. Washington, he is a nice old guy that
we came across while tracting a few weeks ago, he's one that once he
get talking doesn't stop, but once we start teaching he will sit there
and listen, he reads everything that we give him and he likes it, even
says that he will come to church some time. So this week we were over
at his house and he was rambling on like usual but this time it went
on forever and we couldn't get it to the gospel, but then finally
after and hour of listening to him talk we were able to being up the
Book of Mormon and found out that he already has one and has read from
it a long time ago, we got talking more about it and he already
believes that Joseph smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon
is the word of God, it just all makes since to him. It's amazing when
you come across people like that where it all makes since to them, now
we just have to get him to church.
Then last night we had a pretty good night, we went to see this one
potential of ours James who has been on vacation for the past couple
weeks and we were able to sit down with him and have a lesson, he was
really accepting of it and wants to know more, he even committed to be
baptized on the 16th of August and says that he will be at church this
Sunday, we will be meeting with him again and will be bringing a
member with us that he will be able to connect with, then that same
night we meet with another lady who was a potential and had a powerful
lesson with her on the plan of salvation, he loved it and loved it
even more when at the end found out that we were not Jehovah
witnesses, and she is really excited to come to church next Sunday
with her family. Things are going amazing here and The Lord just keeps
blessing us left and right.
Now for the sad part of the week, we keep coming across puppies left
and right and I want one so bad. So early in the week we visited this
one member who just had a litter and oh they are so cute, they even
offer to let us have one, they were just giving them away, then latter
in the week we visited another family that had just recently had a
little of puppies also and oh they were even more adorable, they were
sheep dogs similar to a colley, and they are selling them for like 600
dollars a puppy, crazy... They even offered to let us take one home as
well. Then to make matter even worse as we were out biking this week,
one evening a puppy started following us and followed us for a long
time, even when we would go up to doors it would follow and then just
sit on the grass waiting, it was such a good dog and we wants to take
it home with us but knew we couldn't so finally we lost it. Now for
our last adventure of the week, this past weekend there was a big
festival going on downtown, a gospel festival, with big name people
there. We went down on Saturday and did some service for them getting
things set up, then that night we came back with the other elders and
handed out pass along cards, it was a pretty good festival and got a
pretty good turn out. But that about sums up my week here in Georgia.

Jul 14, 2014 - A truly blessed week.
This week has been amazing, so much has happened and so many miracles
have happened. This week we had the car but did a lot of biking cause
now they have cut our miles down so in order to go to Brunswick for
pday today we needed to give the car up for a couple days and that's
still not enough. But we had a great week, we taught a lot of lessons
this week and found some new investigators. On Tuesday I went on a
trade off with elder burton who is the district leader and went up to
Jesup with him. We had a pretty good time, it nice to be able to get a
break from your companion that you are with 24/7 and be with someone
else for a day. Then this week we meet with a former investigator of
ours named Clinton who we were teaching when I first came here and
stopped cause he wasn't ready but he told us he was ready to change
and wants to come to church so early this week we had a good lesson
with him and some of the others that lived in the complex came and
joined in but wanted to talk the whole time and finally left cause the
didn't like is talking about the Book of Mormon, we went back Saturday
to figure out his ride situation for church and when we got there he
told us that his land lord told him that they don't want him talking
to us and us coming around. Turns out those guys we meet there earlier
complained about us teaching false doctrine, since it was mental
apartment complex we didn't push it, but it was sad to see this guy
not be able to come to church or anything. Then also this week we meet
with Raekwon again, turns out he wants to get baptized by any means
possible into what ever church he can, we have tried to explain the
importance of the proper authority to him but he didn't care, we
realized what it all comes down to and that's reading the Book of
Mormon, so that is what we are really focusing on with him. Now is
time for the major miracle of the week, SUNDAY!!! There is this part
member family that we have been working with and the wife hasn't come
to church in a long time but her grandfather was giving a talk at
church and they roped her into giving one also, and she came and gave
a beautiful talk and her husband even came, she said that she is going
to start coming back to church now, so we are going to work with her
husband and hopefully get him baptized. But that wasn't all that day,
20 minutes into sacrament Tiffany walks him, you know she was the one
that had a baptism date with her and her family a while ago. Well she
moved and we lost all contact with her for the past two or three weeks
and yesterday she just end popped up and came to church, earlier this
week we were talking about dropping her off our teaching list but
decided to wait until Sunday to see what happens and she came to
church and stayed for Sunday school and wants us to come and start
seeing her again, so excited. This week we have truly been blessed.

Jul 7, 2014 - "4th of July - Water Balloons Flying"
Trying to think what happened this week but can't really remember.
Feel like there's a lot but not much is coming to my mind. Early on
this week we saw Raekwon, he had gone to church with his sister the
Sunday before and I guess while he was there the pastor said that he
would baptize him, so our visit with him was mainly spent on the
priesthood and the importance of it, but it kinda turned out to be
spiritual puke, I don't really think it clicked with him and we
weren't able to see him for the rest of the week so hopefully we can
see him tomorrow and all goes well. Then this week we also had dinner
every single night which was awesome, we ate with the bishop on
Thursday night, we have artery strong relationship with him now. At
first when I first came here he didn't really talk with us much when
we went over but now he talks to us a lot. I think it cause his kids
really like us, we will come over and play around with them for a
little bit, toss a football or something and now they love us, and
cause of that the bishop likes us. So in a month we will be having
stake conference and the stake presidency will probably be getting
changed and there will be two general authorities there, they won't
tell us who they are just that we wouldn't want to miss it, bishop was
also making it sound like one will be an apostle, so that will be
pretty cool. Then for the 4th this year it didn't really feel like the
4th, just not the same. Spent a lot of the day out knocking doors
cause we didn't have anything else to do, then that night we went to a
members that was throwing a party and spent the rest of the night
there, she cooked some really good food. Played some games and just
had for the evening, we did a water balloon toss and of course you
know me the first round of it we messed around and threw the balloon
at the sister missionaries "by mistake"...... And the second round we
took seriously and won of course but did get wet In the end when
balloons started flying, we had a big Bon fire and all, didn't get to
see any fireworks though, but it was all good. Then Saturday was a
good day, got out and found some new investigators, the first part of
the week was really rough we could find anyone to teach, and finally
on Saturday things started to happen and we got to meet with a lot of
people, that night we even went to a wedding reception and got some
free food there. I've come to realize that I don't think I really like
receptions in the church, just not the same, just feels like a ward
party. Well that really about sums it up, not much really happened
this week. Hope your 4th was a fun one.
Love you all
