Sep 8, 2014 "Very Rough Week"
Mommy,
Things have been going pretty good, the weather is cooling down, but still gets hot a lot. Just not as bad as it was. But is sounds like you all have had a pretty exciting week, everyone doing different things from the coast to Spokane to finishing to deck, y'all are keeping busy. And hey what's up with Laura she hasn't written me a letter or email in forever since I talked to her on Mother's Day. And she even has a new boy, you should hound her for me and get her to write, I wanna know what's going on with her, I miss her. And hey what is the surprise that you are starting on Friday, I've been trying to figure it out but can't, I thought it might be working out but you are already doing that, so what is it, tell me, tell me, tell me....... I wanna know. I tell you one of my secrets if you tell me. So what else is going on with y'all, I'm missing my mommy. This week has been a little frustrating, just getting down that all the other companionship's in the district are baptizing and we are not, this is the longest I've gone without a baptism and these past 4 months are the hardest I've worked on my mission as well, I just don't know what else to do, I feel like we have knocked every street in our area, people here just don't wanna do anything and I'm fed up with them, that's just how I'm feeling right now, sorry for venting on ya.
I love you mom, more than all the doors that have ever been knocked by missionaries.
Daddy,
Things
are going pretty good, I did get a chance to write bro Leppert. And hey
it's exciting to here that your the assistant ward mission leader, you
should have some fun with that one. Now as for how I've been doing, this
week has been a little rough, I'm starting to get sick of the area,
been here 4 months now and we haven't baptized anyone, longest I've ever
been without a baptism, then you see everyone else in the district
baptizing and here elder redd and I are working our butts off and
nothing, these past 4 months is the hardest I've ever worked, and
sometimes I just get frustrated, I feel like we have knocked every
street in our area. People here just don't want to do anything. I'm
trying to stay positive and keep working hard, but this week has just
been rough. Sorry didn't mean to vent. But other than that all is well.
Love you daddy
Sep 8, 2014 "Ups & Downs"
A mission is full of ups and downs, it's kinda like a roller coaster in
a way. You will be having weeks were things are going perfectly or
really good then you hit a weeks were things just fall through left
and right, well that is how this past week has been, it went by really
fast but it was filled with lots of frustrations, all of our
appointments seems to have fallen through and some of the really solid
investigators that we have picked up recents either don't want to meet
anymore and just don't seem interested any more. Bu on the bright side
we did seem to have a few powerful lessons still. One was with DJ and
Kira who we have been seeing for a while now, DJ has even come to
church once, anyway so we went over there with this member Dustin who
used to work with DJ and just DJ just thought the highest of him, we
read from the scriptures and had a powerful lesson with them,
testimonies were born and the spirit was felt, they both have
committed to come to church this Sunday, yesterday they couldn't but
they for sure will be there next Sunday. It's seems like my prayers
keep getting answered for this couple, when we first meet them they
were thinking about moving and splitting up, and my prayers were
answered when they told us the message that we shared with them
changed their heart and they are staying together, then Kira got a job
and couldn't come to church, once again a prayer was answered when she
was told that she now has Sundays off, next step is baptism, and I'm
praying for it, this couple is awesome and they have the coolest set
of twins that are a year old.
Then this week we had trade offs with our district leader and we did
both of them back to back. Going on a trade off always makes me laugh,
just because of all the drama you hear, elders on a mission are almost
as bad as school girl drama, but trade offs are still fun. Tuesday
night we had our volleyball night once again, it is getting bigger and
bigger, it's mainly been going for 3 or 4 weeks and we are getting over
20 people there which is really good, mostly members but they say they
are going to be starting to bring their friends.
Oh then Saturday was pretty exciting, so we had gotten some referrals
from church head quarters that lived way out in the country, so
Saturday we decided to go see them, both seemed to not be interested,
so we tried to see some less actives out there, and ended up having a
really good visit with one of them. His name is Bro Fogles, we didn't
find this part out tell later but his wife is a not a member and one
point was very anti Mormon, but this visit was really good, we talked
to her at the door for a little bit and then she told us that bro
Fogles was out back in the shop, so we went back and talked with him
and turns out that they had been wanted to come to church, him and his
wife, and guess what they came to church yesterday and we have a
return appointment with them for next Sunday, turns out they have a
lot of family over in another county and a couple weeks ago had a big
family night and had a gospel discussion, and that is what caused them
to want to start coming to church, he is even going to have us over
for their next FHE night which they will hold once a month for all the
families to get together, should be pretty good. Well that about raps
up our week, lots of knocking doors and getting rained on, gotta love
it.
Love you all

Sep 1, 2014 "Flu Bug" "Sick & not feeling good"
Well this week started off good for the most part we were able to get
out and see some people and have a couple really good lessons, but
then things went downhill pretty quick, on Wednesday I got sick wasn't
to bad at first really didn't hit me till that night and we went home
an hour early and I went to bed, then the next day was worse wet went
out for a couple hours but then had to come in and on Friday and
Saturday we stays in all day. So here is what I had, it started off
with just a common cold, then add stomach pains to it, then I got a
fever and one night I was burning up like crazy, couldn't sleep during
the night, I would sleep for an hour or two and then be up for four,
then I got a head ache, and finally the cough came in. Now all I have
is the cough, feeling pretty good now. But back on Saturday since I
wasn't feeling good, I went to a members house and elder redd went out
to visit a couple people that were planing on coming to church the
next day. Then Sunday came and I was feeling a lot better, went to
church and even had one of our investigators come, Debra Ross, she
really enjoyed it, built some friendships with members and all. Then
that night afters days of not biking we got back out. So ya not much
really happened this week.
Love ya all

Sep 1, 2014 " Grilled Corn"
Wow it's just birthday central back home right now, taco salad for dad for his birthday what happened to chicken wings(that will be a nice homecoming gift for me, seeing how my b-day is 2 days latter). Hey I saw some wedding pics that dad sent, you all are looking good, and you had a nice tan going on and all, your even starting to look a little older, with that long white hair of yours, I like it. Now as for the grilling you asked about you probably know just as much as I do all I know how to do is eat the food, one thing I've learned out here is that when I go home I am going to learn to use the grill, not just for burgers and steaks but for everything. Something you might want to try that's really good on the grill is corn, you butter the corn with lots of butter and put whatever seasoning you want on it(we used Jalapeno seasoning that wasn't spicy but tasted really good) then you wrap it in foil and toss it on the grill, turns out really good. Oh and you asked if there was anything that you could do for me, well since you asked you could mail me some of you amazing chicken wings but I don't think that would quite work out. Remember I love you mommy more than all the chickens that have ever been eaten, and if you live in the south that's a lot. Love ya
