September 2014
finally entering the mission field, a year and a half late but finally.... |
Sep 29, 2014 - "Following the Spirit and going with the first thought."
This week we had the opportunity of going down to Jacksonville for a zone conference with Elder Golden an member of the 70. It turned out to be a really good one and i was able to learn a lot. In the mission presidents email to all of us this week to talked a little bit about it and said that when Golden was praising our mission he really meant it, apparently he doesn't do that often, and he also usually teaches about mission rules and obedience but for us he barely touched on it, instead to opened it up to a question and answer and talked about some good stuff even went deep into somethings. But one thing that i took the most for was he talked about following the spirit and going with the first thought that enters your mind, I've started applying this week and have seen a big difference. it was a really good zone conference.
Also this week we had a powerful lesson with DJ the one that has the baptism date on for the 18th. We brought a member with us, the elders quorum president and went the taught DJ and Kira the law of chastity, it was probably the worst I've ever taught it and it felt really awkward the whole time, but in the end it turned about really good, the spirit was able to come in powerfully and testify to them, they are now planning on getting married soon, even considering doing it this weekend, which would be amazing. DJ has come so far from when we first meet him.
other than that the rest of the week went really good, Elder Hale is a good missionary and we get along pretty well. Loving it out here.
Love ya

"My New Ride
Sep 22, 2014 - New Companion Elder Hale
New week, new companion. On Wednesday we drove down to Jacksonville
for our transfer meeting and to get our new companions. Now I am with
elder Hale who is from Utah of course, he has only been out for about
7 months, they seem to keep putting me with the younger missionaries.
Well coming back to Waycross from Jacksonville we had about a 2 hour
drive so we got to know each other pretty good, he's a big I.T.
Guy(computer person) and will pretty much believe everything I tell
him. He asked what I did before I came out and I said o was a actor
and starred in Hangover, he believed it for quite a while.
Now as for the work here it's still going pretty good. We did a lot of
biking this week, and had a lot of appointments fall through. Saw a
lot of less active members, the bishopric has given us a home
teaching route of 20 families, been seeing some good things come from
this, have a couple part member families that want us to start
teaching them. Also this week we meet with DJ again, we had an amazing
lesson with him and at the end he said that he wanted to be baptized,
we set a date with him for October 18th. It's crazy to see how far he
has come, at first he didn't really want to talk with us but his
girlfriend made him and then he was just scared to make the commitment
to be baptized, but now he is ready and strong, came to church again
this week and once again his little kids are the most well behaved one
there. The only problem now is that he need to get married to his
girlfriend, so this week we are going to see them with a member and
have a powerful lesson on the law of chastity. Pray for us. Well that
about sums up our week here in Georgia, tomorrow we are heading down to
Jacksonville again for a zone conference with elder golden who is in
the 70. We are driving down tonight and the meeting starts at 7:30 in
the morning and finishes at 3 with no breaks, not even lunch. Means
I'm packing snacks.
Love y'all

Sep 22, 2014 - Girls are Dating?
What i didn't know Karl knew how to cook that well, he need to cook for me when I get home. I look forward to when I get home, missing all the repair work and fixing up is nice, I just get to enjoy the finished project. Hey so what's up with Laura and Ramzi I keep hearing about them, Laura should just marry him, so what if he is a little younger than her, someone's got to rock the cradle. Oh and Anna-Marie going for those Tongans now, what has happened to the family, when I was home no one was dating no body, now everyone is except Jared. Now as far as living here in Georgia, Ya I would never want to, maybe if I was on the beach but even then that would just be for vacation, I need my four seasons and the humidity here kills. But it is a nice place. I think Waycross might be one of my favorite areas, mainly for the people though.
So how is grandma doing. Good to hear she is getting out of the house and getting her to the senior center, you can get her playing bingo there. Tell her that I miss her and love her. I miss those nights where we would go out to eat together.
Don't forget I love you mommy, more than all the ants in the world, and if you just in Georgia that's a lot, they are everywhere, millions and billions. Kinda random but it works.
Love you
